Creating Futures for Foster Youth Aging Out

Every year, thousands of foster youth age out of the system when they turn 18. Often, they have no support and face the risk of homelessness. A Sense of Home (ASOH) is dedicated to ensuring they don’t face these challenges alone. By transforming empty spaces into warm, welcoming homes, ASOH helps former foster youth find stability and a sense of belonging. A simple home can do more than just provide shelter—it can change a life.
The Power of a Home
A home is the foundation of our success, happiness, and health. It provides safety, stability, and the environment needed to thrive emotionally and physically. ASOH partners with Los Angeles County and DCFS to obtain Permanent Supportive Housing and turn these empowering spaces into functioning and inspired homes for former foster youth. We hope to provide them with a chance to build a brighter future.
Everything in their new home, a chair, a table, even a single bouquet, reminds them that they are no longer alone and they are supported. Creating a home isn’t just about filling it with furniture; it’s about building hope, security, and a sense of belonging. We transform empty apartments into cozy homes, offering not only physical comfort but also the emotional support and stability they need in life. How We Work
ASOH has a sustainable model to help those youth aging out of foster care. We believe in the magic of community. Through donations of furniture and home goods, volunteers come together to design, furnish, and create warm, inviting homes. Every pillow, every lamp, and every plant we place is done with love because we know how much a home matters. Youth who receive these homes are empowered to pay it forward by helping others in the same situation. Together, we are reducing homelessness, building stronger communities, and promoting sustainability.
